Springfield to Hannibal, Missouri
Our morning in Springfield is Abe Lincoln oriented. We see quite a number of statues and memorials around town, before doing a tour of his home and visiting the Presidential Museum. When we leave Springfield we visit 2 icons of Route 66, another diner and another giant. That's it for Route 66 as we head west. We pass some very sick looking corn, as the drought is pretty bad in this part of the world, and plenty of little mid-west towns. We take a ferry ride across the Illinois River before meeting the mighty Mississippi. We cross the river at Hannibal, Missouri for our stay tonight. The temperature hit the high 30's again, but no where near the humidity of the first day.
