Around Goshen, Indiana

We are staying at Shelley and Brent's place at Goshen, Indiana. Their son, Harrison, has very nicely given up his room for 2 nights for me to sleep in. And it's a cool room, with lots of interesting stuff. Anyway, Goshen is in Amish Country, so Brent kindly drives us around some of the towns in the area that are strongly influenced by the Amish and Mennonites. They have developed large stores which carry local and  international goods, but are of really good quality. The stores range from clothes and accessories to furniture and from family restaurants to specialty bakery and cheese items. We also have a very good tour conducted by the museum, which walks us through the beginnings of Amish belief and how the various groups have split over the years. An excellent tour. That night Shelley and Brett throw a party for us and invite people who play Farmville, plus some of their friends from around the neighbourhood. Shelley surprises me with a birthday cake. Shelley is a great cook, plus with what was brought by people, there is a fantastic spread. A really great night, and I thank them for my cake and birthday wishes.
