The Henry Ford, Dearborn, Michigan

The Henry Ford is a museum, a historic Village, a factory tour and an Imax theatre. We have a tour of the Ford Rouge Factory which involved a couple of films, a view over the whole facility, a legends walk of the ford card, and a walk above the factory floor while they were making a Ford 150 truck. It was very interesting, but no pictures allowed. The museum is massive, with cars, trains, planes and a large number of items, including the theatre chair where Abraham Lincoln was shot, and the bus which sparked a race uproar in Alabama. The Village had a large number of buildings spread across some 80 acres of land. Henry Ford created the village for the students of the academy, as he was a firm believer of hand on experience. The village has printing works, glass blowing, pottery, farms, etc. There is a windmiill purported to be the oldest in America and a carousel. The amount of stuff Henry Ford collected is amazing. All very interesting but an exhausting day. Beautiful weather.
